1st station - Jesus is condemned to DeathV. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world After having been scourged and crowned with thorns Jesus stood before Pilate. He was lonely, abandoned and unjustly condemned; rejected even by his disciples. This station reminds me of those moments of my life when I was despised or abandoned by others. It also reminds me how easy it is to pass judgment too fast, without knowing of the truth or understanding another person's perspective. Jesus, forgive me my sin of pride and mockery. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. |
2nd station - Jesus receives the CrossV. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. The beam of the Cross was laid on Jesus' back and shoulders. He accepted this humiliation knowing that it is the will of his Father. This station reminds me of my personal cross, the cross of my life. It can be my weakness, my disease, my fears or misunderstanding by others. Lord, help me to take my cross every day. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Hail Mary... R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. Jesus fell to the ground. So weakened he could scarcely walk, he had to carry the great load upon his shoulders. This station reminds me how easy I fall because of my weakness and personal limitations, and how quickly I am discouraged and get angry. Lord, pick me up from my falls. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Glory be to the Father... Oh, how sad and sore distressed Was that Mother highly blessed Of the sole-begotten One! |
4th station - Jesus is met by His Blessed MotherV. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. Jesus met his Mother, Mary. It was a painful moment for them both. The prophecy of Simeon, that a sword would pierce Mary's heart, was fulfilled. This station reminds me of all mothers and their maternal love for their children. I pray that, strengthened by God's grace, they may grow in love. Lord, pour upon them the spirit of wisdom and love. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Hail Mary... Christ above in torment hangs; She beneath beholds the pangs Of her dying glorious Son. |
5th station - Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry his CrossV. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. Cruel tormentors, seeing that Jesus was on the point of expiring and fearing he would die on the way, forced Simon of Cyrene to carry Jesus' cross. This station reminds me of my own irritability when circumstances force me to take action whereas I prefer not to be involved. Lord, give me courage to do always what is right and good. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Our Father... R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. Veronica, seeing Jesus so exhausted and weak wiped his face with a towel. Behind the blood and sweat she saw in him a human being - a person who needs help. This station reminds me of people, who are waiting for my attention or help. Very often a good word, encouraging or reconciliation gesture proves to be enough. Lord, give me strength to see your face in other people, especially those who are poor, abandoned or disdained. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. It was another fall of Jesus under the Cross, which renewed the pain of all the wounds in his sacred body. And there was no one to help, no sympathy... This station reminds me how easily I overlook other people's isolation and stand back in the crowd, unwilling to response. Lord, grant me the virtue of generosity in doing good. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Hail Mary... Bruised, derided, cursed, defiled, She beheld her tender Child All with bloody scourges rent. |
8th station - The women of Jerusalem mourn for our LordV. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. These women had the courage to spoke out with compassion and regret. But Jesus' reply was a warning: Weep not for me, but for yourselves and your children. It's not good enough to feel sorrow for what Jesus undergoes unless I am ready to do something about it. This station reminds me that a truly loving heart only is able to see the Passion of Christ in a proper perspective. Lord, meek and humble of heart make my heart like into your heart. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Our Father... For the sins of His own nation Saw Him hang in desolation Till His spirit forth He sent. |

R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. Executioners tried to hasten the steps of Jesus, but his weakness was extreme. He reached the bottom. This station reminds me how easy it is to compromise in terms of morality and give up on the ideals. It also takes me back to my frequent relapses and my continuance in sin. O Lord, let me be faithful to your teaching, especially when I find my weakness letting me down and I fall again and again. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Glory be to the Father... O thou Mother! Fount of love! Touch my spirit from above, Make my heart with thine accord. |
10th station - Jesus is stripped of His garmentsV. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. The clothes of Jesus were stripped off and his human dignity was violated. Only faith, hope and love remained. These thee animated Jesus' obedience to the will of his Father. This station reminds me of Jesus' words: Blessed are the poor in Spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall he comforted. Jesus, forgive me my all false shame and desire to be successful, rich and powerful no matter the cost. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Hail Mary... Make me feel as thou hast felt; Make my soul to grow and melt With the love of Christ my Lord. |
11th station - Jesus is nailed to the CrossV. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. Jesus, having been placed upon the Cross, extended his hands to embrace the world in his love. He offered his bruised limbs to his Heavenly Father on behalf of sinful man: Let Your will be done, Father, not mine. This station teaches me how to accept my daily struggles, especially the most difficult ones. Lord, forgive me my trespasses as I forgive those who trespass against me. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Our Father... Holy Mother! pierce me through; In my heart each wound renew, Of my Saviour crucified. |
12th station - Jesus dies on the CrossV. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. Jesus, being consumed with anguish after three hours' agony on the Cross, bowed his head and died. No one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends. These words have been fulfilled on the Cross. This station reminds me of your infinite love for me and about your commandment to love one another as you have loved. Jesus, for the sake of your sorrowful Passion and death, have mercy on us and on the whole world. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Glory be to the Father... Let me share with thee His pain, Who for all my sins was slain, Who for me in torments died. |
13th station - Jesus is taken down from the CrossV. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. After Jesus had expired two of his disciples, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus, took him down from the Cross and placed in the arms of his Mother. This station reminds me of my Mother in heaven who has compassion on me and intercedes for me always. Jesus, receive my prayers through the intercession of your Mother. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Hail Mary... Let me mingle tears with thee, Mourning Him who mourned for me All the days that I may live. |
14th station - Jesus is placed in the tombV. We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you.
R. Because by your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world. The disciples, accompanied by Jesus' mother, carried the body of Jesus to burry it in the tomb. This is where the way of the Cross traditionally ends. But as Christians, we believe in the resurrectionof the body and life everlasting. This station reminds me that the empty tomb is not the end. It's the beginning of God's life in my heart. Jesus, my Redeemer, I believe that you lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. O God, we love thee with our whole hearts and above all things, and are heartily sorry that we have offended thee. May we never offend thee any more. Oh, may we love thee without ceasing, and make it our delight to do in all things thy most holy will. Our Father... By the Cross with thee to stay; There with thee to weep and pray, Is all I ask of thee to give. |
